Children's Book Illustrator
19 hours agoIllustrate a 32-page picture book for ages 4–8, written by a debut author we adore. We’re looking for a playful, character-driven style with strong use of color and a sense of warmth.
Two books in the series are available for 2026, with option for a third if the partnership clicks.
Responsibilities
- Develop character sheets and a visual style guide at kickoff.
- Produce 15 full spreads + cover art at print resolution (300 DPI, CMYK).
- Two rounds of revision per spread built into the timeline.
- Deliver final files in a print-ready package for the publisher.
- Attend two live working sessions with the author and editor.
Requirements
- Portfolio with at least one published children’s book or equivalent editorial illustration body of work.
- Consistent character design across a 20+ page sequence.
- Traditional or digital media welcome — we care about the final work.
- Reliable with a 14-week timeline and an open communicator.
Benefits
- Flat $8,000 per book, 50% on kickoff / 50% on final approval.
- Full illustrator credit on cover and interior.
- Royalty participation on sales above first printing.
- Option to illustrate a second book in 2026.
